Welcome to With CARE

Welcome to With Care, the blog for the City of Seattle’s Community Assisted Response and Engagement (CARE) department.

CARE encompasses the city’s third public safety department, including the 911 dispatch center and the Community Crisis Responders.

The Community Crisis Responders (CCR) provide emergency response to behavioral health and wellness issues across the city. CCRs make mental health contacts, referring those in need to social services while freeing up police to more quickly respond to life-threatening emergencies.

CARE’s 911 Center receives and dispatches an average of 2,500+ emergency and non-emergency calls a day throughout the city.

We’re launching With CARE to share more about how Seattle’s emergency and crisis response systems work and to connect with the communities we serve. As a public safety department, it’s important our city understands how we operate, how we make decisions, and how we’re growing.

In the future, With CARE will feature a behind-the-scenes look at how 911 calls are handled, in-depth profiles of our call-takers, dispatchers, and responders, featured data explaining our department’s impact, and tips on when and how to call 911.

We’d love to hear from you! Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and X/twitter for more news and stories from our department. And, of course, you can always reach us in an emergency by calling 911.
